What is HTML?

What is HTML? Origins of the Internet should be sought as early as 1961. Since that time, was developed many languages and protocols that have evolved within the growing structure of the Internet.

It is important to remember that the Web is only part of the Internet! Many people think that the Web and the Internet - the same thing, although it is not so.

Many Internet protocols facilitate the work of countless online applications, including well-known and popular e-mail newsgroups.

World Wide Web is just one service, based on these protocols and hypertext markup language, Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), - only one of the languages used for delivering information over the Internet.

HTML - the markup language. This means that it does not apply to high level programming language such as C or Visual Basic. Rather than compile and execute, HTML is interpreted user agent known as a Web browser.

HTML is primarily used for creating Web pages. It is inseparable from the concept of World Wide Web and express the essence. Circumstances of birth NTML and the fact that its creation has historically been associated with Tim Berners-Lee (Tim Berners-Lee), a programmer of the European Centre for Nuclear Research (CERN). Developing HTML, Berners-Lee is as follows:

first, that scientists around the clock available means of publication, storage and correct information;
secondly, to generate a language that facilitates universal access to information, regardless of the computing platform, network and terminal.

Designed as a solution applied for scientific purposes, NTML originally provided access only to textual environment and facilitate the exchange of research information.

It is interesting to note: using the graphical environment so greatly influenced some of the original purpose of HTML, which even prompted the development of specialized tools for working on the WWW for people with disabilities and the internationalization of the WWW.

The source HTML is an application programming language coding, based on the model of standard generalized markup language (Standard Generalized Markup Language - SGML). SGML is a system which for many years employed by documenting as a means of marking technical documents. As a formatting language, HTML uses SGML declaration and document type definition (Document Type Definition - DTD).

As a universal tool, HTML, together with the hypertext transfer protocol (Hypertext Transfer Protocol - HTTP) allows for the interaction of electronic documents of various types, as well as accelerating the exchange of information.

The problem immediately solvable HTML, is that different network "talk" in different languages. HTML solves the problems of translation of documents between different computers, platforms and networks, providing broad access to documents.

HTML - the language that makes possible this process by the customer or end user. HTML is served by the HTTP protocol, which, if I may say so, "lucky to have a" code from the server to the client.
